Area Agency on Aging of East Texas

The Area Agency on Aging of East Texas provides services in a person’s own home with household tasks, escort and personal care who might otherwise be subject to unnecessary institutionalization, abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This program provides homemaker services only. Very short term, usually following surgery or serious illness, services usually last about 6 weeks, but can be extended. Available services include:

Personal care:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Grooming
  • Routine Hair and Skin Care
  • Feeding
  • Exercising
  • Helping with self administered medications
  • Toileting
  • Transferring/ambulating

Attendant Services:

  • Light Housekeeping
  • Changing bed linens
  • Shopping
  • Storing purchased items
  • Washing dishes
  • Meal Preparation
  • Medication Reminders
  • Laundry

Escort/Errands:

  • Accompanying client on trips to obtain medical diagnosis, treatment, or both.
  • This service does not include the direct transportation of the client by the attendant.
