What do you like about working for Grace?
The employees and work atmosphere. Everyone is like family. We are focused on the ensuring patients get the best of care.
Why did you choose nursing as a profession?
Actually prior to becoming a nurse I had never been around or worked with sick people. I was 17 with a GED and my dream was to be a truck driver. I tried to enroll in truck driving school and I was literally laughed at. The only program I was eligible to enroll in at that age was nursing- if I could pass the entrance exam. So I took the exam- passed and was accepted into the LVN school. About 6 weeks into the program I realized “hey I really like this” so I buckled down and completed the program becoming a LVN.
What is your perfect day?
Any day at the lake fishing!
What do you consider your greatest skill?
Multi-tasking with work & family, keeping a level head during crisis
Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
I worked night shifts as an Agency nurse for 8 years doing PRN staffing in hospitals all over north & east Texas . I had the opportunity to meet & work with many interesting people, and work in all areas of the hospital.
What are your hobbies?
Camping, fishing, hiking, reading, cooking, and swimming.
And finally what is something unique that most people don’t know about you?
